Ernest Greaves était entré à la Compagnie
en 1904, il était titulaire d'un brevet de Capitaine au cabotage
international. Son corps ayant été retrouvé sur la plage de St Cast
en même temps que les débris d'un canot, il est permis de penser
qu'il a pu prendre le commandement du seul canot qui ait pu quitter
le bord. Il
n'est pas certain que cet homme soit le Lieutenant Greaves,
c'est une déduction à partir de sa position sur une photo de l'équipage
où
il est placé à la gauche du Second. |

Ernest Greaves had
joined the company in 1904 and possessed a Foreign Trade Master's
certificate. His body
having been retrieved on the beach at St Cast together with debris
from a life-boat, one can imagine he had taken over command of the
only boat which could have left the ship. The man on this photo
has not been positively identified as being the 2nd Officer Greaves,
it is just a deduction due to his position on the left of the 1st
Officer on a picture of the whole crew. |
